Can I travel with my pet to Cuba?
As in other countries of the world traveling to Cuba with pets is totally allowed and safe, but you must first know some necessary documents to that you enter the country with your animal.
In the Cuban Customs you must show a certificate from the consulate, to obtain it you must show the following documents:
– Updated passport of the animal with up-to-date vaccinations.
– A health certificate for the pet’s trip and a certificate of good health. (Can be issued by the veterinarian).
– A photocopy of the passport of the person traveling with the animal.
These same documents must be presented at the consulate to obtain an Official Export Certificate if you wish to travel to Cuba with a pet.
The ways to request some of these certificates are the same as in the case of the visa for the person.
It is important that you know…
The national airline Cubana de Aviación does not accept the transport of animals (pets) in the passenger cabin, except guide dogs that accompany and guide a blind person.
This dog will not occupy a seat and will be free of charge. Dogs of the Yorkshire breed will also be accepted with their passport and updated documents.
It will be possible for pets to travel in the compartments assigned to luggage or cargo and in containers (cages) prepared for this purpose.
The transport of animals will be carried out as excess baggage, taking into account both the weight of the animal and the cage for payment.
