General characteristics of Red Beach.
The Red Beach belongs to the Isla de la Juventud, and is located about 45 km from Nueva Gerona, the main city of that Special Municipality.
This beach is in the northern part of the La Siguanea cove and to the west it borders the Colony hotel, one of the best on the Isla de la Juventud.
The length of the beach is approximately 2 km, and it has warm, shallow and transparent waters accompanied by light sand.
The Red beach, although somewhat affected by the poor channeling of waste from the nearby hotel and other issues that threaten the environment, offers visitors a beautiful natural view at any time of day.
Although it is visited by some guests of the Colony hotel, its bathers are generally the inhabitants of the nearby towns of San Pedro, Argelia and La Victoria.
Beach Attractions.
Although it is not the most visited beach in the area and the hand of man has attacked it a bit, diving and snorkeling are practiced in that area, as well as underwater photography.
Its underwater landscapes have coral reefs where algae, annelids, molluscs, sponges, crustaceans, soft corals and various types of fish abound.
