Esperanza, a television weather broadcaster, wants to have a child at all costs. Shy and passionate, she seeks in other men the fulfillment of the desire that the husband cannot fulfill. Her relationship with three men, from conflict to conflict and from absurd to absurd, satisfies her aspiration.

The Film Melodrama was selected for the Berlinale (Forum) in 1999 and for the Toronto Film Festival; was exhibited at the Lincoln Center (New York) . In 1997 it was commercially exhibited in Zurich (Switzerland).
Melodrama Film. On his Director
Rolando Diaz (Havana, August 13, 1947) is a Cuban film director and screenwriter. A large part of his work is linked to the Latin American ICAIC News and to the rise of Cuban documentary during the 1980s at the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC by the Spanish acronyms). He made his debut as a director in the film “The Birds Shooting at the Shotgun”.
He graduated from the University of Havana in Cuban Studies Major.
He began working in 1969 as a microphone player in the Sound Department of ICAIC. From 1977 he was linked to the office of the Latin American ICAIC News, under the tutelage of Santiago Alvarez Roman (1919-1998). He had as partners the filmmakers Fernando Perez Valdes and Daniel Diaz Torres. As director, he directed more than 80 editions.
Since 1944 he lives in the Canary Islands (Spain), where he works as a teacher at the School of Actors of the Canary Islands. He also teaches at the School of Training of Screenwriters of the Foundation for Audiovisual Research, based in Valencia (Spain). In 2003 he was director of the International Film Course, organized by the International Menendez Pelayo University, entitled “Dialogues on the audiovisual: from the script to the market”.
He works as deputy director of the Docadas International Documentary Festival and as co-director of the Scripture Writing Laboratory of the Autonomous Government of the Canary Islands.
